For whom the bell tolls
For whom the bell tolls it tolls for thee. So yesterday the bells of several Churches and Cathedrals, both Catholic and Protestant rang out 350 times. Why? You may well ask.
Certain of our learned prelates have got it into their heads that Carbon Dioxide must somehow or other be stopped in its tracks at 350 parts per million by volume. Well, I never! I wonder who put that idea into their priestly craniums. What happened to ‘I believe in One God, Maker of Heaven and Earth and of all things visible and invisible?’ What happened to Great Nature? What happened to the inexorable processes, the checks and balances that Great Nature affords? What has happened to the search for verity? The distrust of malfeasance?
Truly, my Lords, for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for you. Can you imagine that by taking thought you can add one cubit to your stature? Can you truly imagine that by limiting one of the building blocks of life that you can somehow regulate the atmosphere? Have you somehow or other acquired a divine cognisance of how the atmosphere works? Are you really so gullible that you have been taken in by the hysterical outpourings of the unscientific doomsayers?
Now we have Hilary Benn adding in his tuppence worth. We already know that the climate temperatures have been fixed, that much has been read into the tree rings of a desolate bristlecone pine tree. We know now that cooling is really warming according to the hystericals. And now we are told that the sea is turning into acid. So the sea is turning acidic and according to Ed Miliband the sea levels are rising dramatically.
What is the truth, said jesting Pilate, and stayed for no answer. And why did he not stay? And why should we not stay? I will tell you in one – because these politicians are either totally ignorant of the scientific facts, or are deliberately concealing them for their own obscure purposes.
Sea levels are probably rising about 1 inch in every decade. Does that scare you to death? Do you think that by reducing the emissions of smoke in China and India that sea levels will automatically be reduced? The sea contains huge amounts of Carbon Dioxide, and is very slightly alkaline, between pH 7.9 to 8.2. So according to Hilary Benn the sea is turning acidic, and this will affect the fish stocks and the coral reefs.
Hilary, Hilary Benn, where did you go to school? Why has the sea not turned into an acid bath long long ago, when the atmospheric content of CO2 was twenty times higher than now?
The Global Warmers twist and turn. At every twist they are shown to be wrong. So their warnings grow even more dire. We must act now to limit Carbon Dioxide emissions! Really? But what if Great Nature continues to ignore these politicians, who strut the Globe? Please tell me how they are going to limit the CO2 that Great Nature produces naturally? They know as well as we all know that they cannot do that – even Dr Vicky Pope of the Met Office actually acknowledges that.
The only emissions that can be limited are the man-made ones. So if at Copenhagen the politicians get a deal to limit all anthropomorphic emissions of CO2 to 50% world wide, by 2020, just what effect will that have on Global temperatures? Ask yourselves. Work it out. 0.0385 x 3% = 0.001% x50% =0.0005%.
So let us ask our worldly-wise prelates, would that do the trick? Would that get you and all mankind back to the magic 350ppmv, that you have rung your bells for? Get a Life, please – just do some simple Arithmetic. If the Global Warmers are right in the diagnosis and in the prognoses, note, then the solutions they propose will be absolutely meaningless. They will make no difference at all. No difference that is to Global temperatures, no difference to the seas, no difference to anything except one thing.
You have it in one. It would sound the death knell for world industry. For whom would the bells toll then? Oh yes, my friends, the bells would toll for all of us, for manusia, for all mankind.
The snake-oil merchants have confused everyone. 40% of the world population have no electricity or running water. That is a real problem. Poverty. Poverty is endemic and the characteristic of the Third World. The next real problem is pollution. How to create energy, electricity, without massive pollution? We all agree that pollution is a huge problem. The leaders in China and India know that. The Western world knows that.
Pollution comes from smoke and from exhaust gases, amongst other things. So we need further research into smokeless fuels, into catalytic converters. But that has nothing to do with carbon dioxide, which is a food for plants, which in turn produces oxygen for us to breathe. How many times do we have to repeat the first steps in Biology concerning photosynthesis?
O Princes, O Lords Divine and temporal, for whom do the bells toll? They toll for all mankind.
